This January, Social Good Ghana is hosting a #YALIGoesGreen event to spur climate change awareness and action among the youth in Ghana.
Theme: Understanding Climate Change: The Role of the Ghanaian Youth.
Date: Friday 15th January 2015
Time: 5pm to 7pm
Venue: Impact Hub Accra
In Ghana, our biggest problem today has got to do with the lack of electricity to power our homes, schools, industries and hospitals. Workers are been laid off, medical operations and surgeries are been performed by the help of touch-lights from mobile phones.
Entrepreneurs and investors are making the most of the world’s excitement about clean technology, hammering out innovations in every energy-related field. Many of the projects show great promise for helping to meet the greenhouse-gas limits discussed at the recent UN climate summit in Paris, but few people grasp this disturbing reality: Even if energy innovations have a lot of potential, they might not be deployable until it’s too late.
History shows that most of the technology breakthroughs need decades to make it to the mass market.
Ghana’s #YALILearns Session on Understanding Climate Change event will explore the various ways technology is impacting climate change and sustainability in Ghana and Africa as a whole and also introduce the participants to YALI Network Online Courses addressing some of the pressing issues facing Africa today, offering insight and positive solutions for young African leaders.
