“Smarter to raise healthier children than to repair damaged adults” – Dr. Manns.
This statement describes the vision and objectives of the Nneka Youth Foundation. The foundation has the vision of inspiring and empowering children in less privileged communities who are going to school in order to help them realize their full potentials amidst obstacles such as drug abuse and teenage pregnancy.
Nneka is therefore working towards the achievement of her vision by giving necessary guidance and support to children in rural communities, attempting to curb social vices among the youth and bringing them to the point of believing that they are potential game changers. Since the foundation’s inception in 2012, over nine thousand children have been impacted through the organization of 14 great camps. The foundation operates in seven districts (Hohoe, Kpando, Afadjato South, South and North Dayi, Nkwanta South, Ningo Prampram) found in the Volta and Greater Accra regions of Ghana.
This year the foundation organized the Nneka World Changers Camp, which was held from 30th July to 25th August, 2017 at the Nneka Youth Development Centre, Ve Agbome in the Volta Region. The camp lasted for four weeks with the participants divided into four zones with each zone spending six days at the camp. This year’s camp impacted over 3000 young people with several resource people speaking on varied topics such as teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, financial literacy, problem solving, arts and crafts, and several others.
The foundation calls on all and sundry to support them build up responsible and empowered children to assure Ghana of a bright future.
