The second season of “An African City”, the web series tagged as the African version of “Sex and the City”, premieres on Sunday, January 24, 2016.
The web series, which was created and written by Nicole Amarteifio, follows the lives of five beautiful and successful women who have returned to Ghana after living abroad for years. They confide in one another about their love lives as they find new ways to deal with being a 21st-century woman in Africa.
The series features Nana Mensah, Maame Adjei, Maame Yaa Boafo, Marie Humbert-Droz and Esosa Edosomwan as its lead characters. The show has received great reviews since its debut over a year ago and is said to highlight relevant issues such as high housing rents, problems clearing goods at the port and the erratic power supply Ghana faces.
The show’s creator, Nicole Amarteifio, was awarded the Creative Artist of the Year at the African Diaspora Awards held in the United States in November 2015 for her work launching the web series.
The new season of An African City promises to be exciting as it will feature actors like Chris Attoh in some episodes. Watch the trailer for the new season in the video below.
