In 2012, a year after Ashesi’s campus was inaugurated, the Ashesi Board of Directors approved plans to start an engineering program; the first major addition to Ashesi’s academic offerings since 2005. We are excited to announce that last week the Ghana National Accreditation Board officially granted accreditation for Ashesi’s curriculum for new Mechanical, Computer, Electronic and Electrical Engineering programs — the final step towards starting engineering classes in September of 2015.
In this Ashesi Medium post, we share some of the major milestones we have hit along the way, as we prepare to educate remarkable engineers in Africa. Many generous individuals, families, and foundations — from Ghana and around the world — came together to provide the $6.12 million needed to build the engineering facility, acquire lab equipment, and support startup costs. We are grateful to our global community for your commitment to help educate a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial leaders in Africa. Thank you!
On October 3rd, 2015, we officially open the doors of our engineering building to the world at our Berekuso campus. It will be the celebration of a historic milestone at Ashesi, and guests will get to see first-hand where our engineering students will be doing some of their best work. Event information will be distributed in the coming months. To join the celebration as part of the Foundation’s Annual Trip to Ghana (9/26-10/4), contact us to reserve your place today!
