As the World celebrates 15 years of the existence of Wikipedia, the Ghanaian group of Wikipedians known as the Wikimedia Ghana User Group have taken to Social media to join in the celebrations.
The Wikimedia Ghana User Group which has been active for some time now in Ghana has embarked on several projects and activities to accelerate the usage of Wikipedia in Ghana.
Some of which are the Edit Ghana Project an event they organized on September 21st 2015 with the Ghana Volunteer Program (GVP) as part of National Volunteer activities to edit and improve content about Ghana. The Wiki Needs Girl Project which created awareness about Wikipedia among female Senior High School Students and identifiable women groups in Ghana. Other activities included the Kiwix Project in WA, Software Freedom Day among a host of several others.
In celebrating Wikipedia’s 15 years, Ghanaians in general have tweeted some experiences ranging from their usage of Wikipedia to improve Ghanaian content online, why they use Wikipedia and some facts about Wikipedia in general.
