Share Foundation Ghana is set to launch its third community library in Community 8, Tema on 22nd September 2014 from 9am-11am. The facility is located within the premises of Tema Community 8 No.3 and N0.4 Basic Schools (near the motorway roundabout) where the school children are patronizing the library.
The mission of the community libraries is to promote the habit of reading among children in the public schools, as well as, raise the standard of education through extensive reading. Currently, the library have in stock assorted books from Primary to Senior High School level and only one computer to aid the pupils with their computer lessons. The library is run by two volunteers who help the school children with reading and guide them to complete their classroom exercises. There is also a special teacher responsible for coordinating reading lessons and activities by organizing reading contests, quizzes and spelling bee at the end of each month for the users of the library. The facility sits about thirty pupils with extra chairs outside to accommodate more users when the sitting capacity is full.
We humbly appeal to stakeholders to support the library with books, computers, legos, scrabble, puzzles, word games among others to help encourage reading and learning among school children.
