The Accra International Marathon (AIM) is an annual marathon event held in Accra, the capital of Ghana. As well as the full marathon, it also stages a half marathon. The race starts in the beach town of Prampram, continues through the port city of Tema before finishing at the popular Labadi Beach Hotel.
This will be their great ninth year of AIMing to Keep Africa Alive! Nationals from four different countries—Ghana, Togo, USA, and Nigeria—enjoyed attractive cash and other prizes last year. They can’t wait to see where the prize money will go this year. The core goals of the AIM are to encourage and support Ghanaians to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. The event is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels; you can run, jog, walk or even do a jig. Afterwards, relax, eat, drink and be merry on the pristine lawns and beachfront of the 5-star Labadi Beach Hotel.
The vision of AIM is to attract national and international participants to a world-class marathon running and walking event in the nation’s capital and to be a fundraising vehicle in support of The Longevity Project (the Project). The mission of the Project is to increase the life expectancy and quality of life of Ghanaians. The prevailing life expectancy is under 65 years.
